Central Texas Coyotes FC
HISTORY
The beginning of Coyotes FC started while founder Manuel Velasquez was working in the office of research at Texas A&M- Central Texas when he came up with the idea to start a local semi-professional soccer team. He then took this idea to the Vice President of Texas A&M Dr. Porter, who then encouraged and helped him set up a meeting with President Dr. Nigliazzo. Both presidents agreed and liked the idea. At that time Coyotes FC was known as Texas Warriors, it was not until 2018 that the name was changed. Due to the construction of the field Coyotes FC would not be able to establish themselves at Texas A&M- Central Texas.
Mr. Velasquez then took it upon himself to look for a way to start this new journey. This is when he came into contact with the Orozco brothers (Isaac & Tony). Owners of Game time Arena and with many years of soccer experience the brothers helped Mr. Velasquez with recruitment, tryouts, and coaching during their first UPSL season.
Mr. Velasquez contacted many places to play their home games, but many doors were shut he believed in this project and knew that Central Texas needed this opportunity for players to showcase their many talents and something soccer fans can enjoy. Thankfully Coach Greg welcomed Coyotes FC to use Holy Trinity Catholic High School soccer field and this is where their home games have been established. A special thanks to Coach Greg, the principal, staff, and Board Members of Holy Trinity Catholic High School who continue to support Coyotes FC.
Coyotes FC wouldn’t be able to be a team without our dedicated coaches head coach Luke Grothe and assistant coach Matt Pelillo and director of coaching Rolando Gonzalez. All people mentioned above have helped develop Coyotes FC since day one, they have dedicated their time to make Coyote FC who they are! Coyotes FC wouldn’t be a team without the dedication of their business partners, fans, and most importantly all our players.
Why did we choose to Play in the NPSL?
The National Premier Soccer League has approximately 96 teams and is recognized in all 50 states. This brings many scouting opportunities for Major League Soccer (MLS), National Independent Soccer Association (NISA), and the United Soccer League (USL) teams by doing player showrooms or national games.
NPSL teams also have the opportunity to participate in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup. The Cup brings several opportunities for players and coaches such as being able to play with MLS, USL, and NISA teams and the possibility to participate in the tournament.
WE BELIEVE IN LOCAL TALENT
Our goal is to grow the influence of soccer in our community and bring new opportunities for players and coaches. We believe that the Central Texas area has talented players and coaches that will fit perfectly into Central Texas Coyotes FC.
Coyotes FC believes in equal opportunity no matter where you come from your race, religion, or the language you speak. When playing on the field all that matters is the work you put in, talent, skills, power, motivation, passion, trust, and most importantly TEAMWORK!!
MISSION
Our mission is to help soccer players and coaches in developing and improve their skills and values toward their professional soccer careers. We want to bring them opportunities to not only grow at the local level but also at the national level.
Coyotes FC League & Tournaments
Coyotes FC is partnered with the City of Temple Parks & Recreation and Hattrick at Temple. We are in the process of developing adult soccer tournaments, Youth Development Academy, and soccer leagues that will be held at the city of Temple, Texas.
This is a great opportunity for local teams, players, and Coaches to demonstrate their skills on the soccer field. During the tournaments, Coyotes FC will be scouting for future players and coaches and will schedule a future date for tryouts.
VISION
Central Texas Coyotes FC wants to become a leading team in the soccer industry. We want to be the primary source of upper-league teams.
We want to demonstrate to the United States the talent Central Texas soccer players and coaches have and become one of the first choices of teams for players and coaches in the Central Texas area.
