Santa Barbaras only Pro Development club will play in UPSLs Pro Premier Tier
Published Jun 7, 2019

June 7, 2019 – Santa Barbara (Calif.) – Alta California Sol is reaching heights the club absolutely expected in its first season.

The only Pro Development soccer club in Santa Barbara (Calif.), Alta California Sol got out to an incredible start on its way to an 11-1-1 overall mark and a first-place finish atop the UPSL Championship SoCal North Division table to earn automatic promotion to UPSL Pro Premier for the 2019 Fall Season.

United Premier Soccer League Commissioner Yan Skwara said, "Our league has been on a mission to roll out our Promotion/Relegation Model nationwide, and Alta California Sol is a great example of hard work and effort. That's what the game is all about. We congratulate Alta California Sol on its tremendous season."

Alta California Sol President D'Alary Dalton said, "Winning promotion was our goal from the onset, and had been something of a 'must-have' in our organization because we knew we had the quality of players, the quality of staff and the commitment of our fans. We wanted to be in the UPSL Pro Premier from Day 1. It's great to achieve that, have it under our belt. We're still buzzing. We're really excited about it."

Alta California Sol won its first eight league games, and was unbeaten over its last four. The team hosts its home matches at San Marcos High School's Warkentin Stadium in Santa Barbara.

"So many teams start off quickly, but others start to get momentum as the season gets moving so you have to give credit to the teams we played late in the season for coming out and really challenging us. Some of our toughest games were at the end of the season," Dalton said.

The Santa Barbara (Calif.)-based club has begun to serve as a vital pipeline for player in the area around coastal Southern California.

"I'm extremely proud of the guys and the staff, and the commitment of the core of the team to stay with the goal of being promoted and sticking with it to the end because it wasn't decided until the end," Dalton said.
