February 4, 2019 – Los Angeles – The United Premier Soccer League (UPSL) is excited to announce Cook Inlet Soccer Club as a new league member kicking off with the 2019 Summer Season.

Based in Anchorage (Alaska), Cook Inlet SC is the second club in the UPSL's Pacific Northwest Conference Alaska Division. The team will host its UPSL home game at Anchorage Gardens Soccer Fields (8101 Brayton Drive, Anchorage, AK 99507) in compliance with UPSL Minimum Standards.

United Premier Soccer League Commissioner Yan Skwara said, "We're revving up the Alaska Division with one of the most historic soccer clubs in the state, and it's a pleasure to welcome Cook Inlet SC to the United Premier Soccer League. Cook Inlet SC is embracing the opportunity to drive the game forward in its home state, and provide options for its Pro Development level players. We continue to target a 6-to-12 team setup in the new UPSL Alaska Division set to kick off later this year, and we wish Cook Inlet SC success in the push to join the UPSL and grow the game."

Founded in 1982, Cook Inlet Soccer Club is the oldest currently-operating soccer club in Alaska. To date, Cook Inlet SC has produced more than 60 Alaska State Cup champions and dominated regional competition last year with eight different age-group champions at the 2018 Alaska State Cup.

Brad Horton is Executive Director of Cook Inlet Soccer Club. Horton, 28, is a native of Chicago (Ill.), and played in the Chicago Fire (MLS) Development Academy before a four-year collegiate career at DeKalb (Ill.)'s Northern Illinois University (NCAA). He later played for Chicago Fire Super-20s (USL League 2) before making the move to coaching and club administration.

Cook Inlet Soccer Club Executive Director Brad Horton said, "We're definitely the club that has set the pace for what a soccer club can be in Alaska, and we recognize that there's a gap for the players in college who want to come back. Most of our players have stayed in the Lower 48 states and played Pro Development near their colleges, but now we're giving them the opportunity to come home, be around their friends and family, get some high-quality training and some high-quality games and play in a competitive environment. We're excited to give our players something that's more organized, more professional, and the UPSL is growing and we're excited to be a part of it here in Alaska."

Alaska native Tim Valesko, 47, is Director of Coaching for Cook Inlet SC. Born in Fairbanks (Alaska), Valesko played collegiate soccer at Portland (Ore.)'s Concordia University (NCAA). Valesko currently holds a USSF 'C' Coaching License and will serve as Head Coach.

Cook Inlet SC Director of Coaching Tim Valesko said, "Our older players will now have a place to come back to train and play, and this will give our different age groups something to gravitate toward and motivate them. This is going to give everyone in Alaska an idea of the next level, and I think the UPSL will garner interest and give local kids something to look up to."

The club soon will announce its upcoming tryout and game schedule.
